Young Emil travels by train to Berlin to visit his grandmother. During the journey, the money he is supposed to deliver to her is stolen by a smooth-talking crook named Grundeis. Emil sets off in pursuit of the thief, determined to get his money back. Along the way, he is helped by “Gustav with the Horn” and an entire gang of streetwise Berlin kids.
